Bloody Sunday as 30 die in Ondo road crash

28 burnt beyond recognition

It was bloody yesterday as 30 persons died in a road accident that  occurred at Onipetesi, along the Lagos/Ore express road in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Ondo state sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),confirmed the story.

It was gathered that 28 persons were burnt beyond recognition in the accident and two others died while being taken to the hospital for treatment.

However, the FRSC hinted that two survivors were  receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

A witness told our correspondent that the accident occurred when two commercial buses had a head on collision and burst into flames.

The makes and the owners of the two vehicles that were involved in the accident could not be ascertained, just as the victims could not be recognized.

The FRSC state sector commander, Samuel Ibitoye, said preliminary investigation showed that one of the vehicles drove against traffic.

He assured that the FRSC would embark on serious investigation on the accident with a view to unraveling the  cause of the accident.
