The meeting scheduled by the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo between the Benin Electricity Distribution Plc, stakeholders and the “Organized Edo Against BEDC Oppressions” group, at the Government House on Tuesday to address the issues of power outage in the state has ended in deadlock.

Addressing journalists shortly after the stakeholders meeting, the convener, “Organized Edo Against BEDC Oppressions” group, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbidi said the civil rights group was fully represented at the meeting.

Recall that the governor, during his stopover at the protest of “Organized Edo Against BEDC Oppressions” group, he requested that the group should send some delegates to represent them at the stakeholders meeting at the Government House on Tuesday.

Comrade Ogbidi said the meeting was timely as it poses to correct the oppressive tendencies of the BEDC on the electricity consumers in the state.

Ogbidi said the meeting was however cut short due to the urgent meeting the governor was having.

He said the meeting was later put off for another date.

He said he has absolute confidence in the governor’s ability to wade into the prolonged marginalisation of the BEDC.

For Comrade Kelly Osunbor, he  blamed the BEDC for not taking responsibility for their inefficiencies.

He said the residents are made to repair faulty transformers, buy fuses and other sundry issues while the company keeps riping off their customers.

Also speaking, Comrade Bevy Efe called on the state government to be transparent in handling the issues of BEDC because the residents are watching to see the outcome.

On the part of Kola Edokpayi, he expressed optimism that the next meeting with the governor and the stakeholders would yield a positive result.
