Bishop Kwakpovwe’s unusual ecumenical gesture

444

For some time now, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe, the founder of the popular Manna Prayer Mountain Ministry Worldwide, has coped with some internal and external controversies. Nevertheless, the charismatic cleric has remained unruffled and has not allowed those challenges to distract his evangelical mission. Rather, the fiery preacher intensifies his God-given mission of bringing more souls into salvation, helping those in need of healing and unifying the body of Christ. Of more importance to him was the belief in the principle of ecumenicalism of promoting Christian unity by bringing Christians of different denominations to work together and develop closer relationships among their churches.

To lead by example, recently, Bishop Kwakpovwe opened his ministry’s door to another popular denomination to host their special service at his expansive cathedral in Lagos, and many have applauded that positive ecumenical gesture. That’s aside his commitment to blessing millions of souls through his devotional, Our Daily Manna, which rolled off the press every quarter into millions of homes and offices all over the world. This has transformed into total acceptance of the ministry of the renowned pharmacist turned preacher. Some weeks ago, when Bishop Kwakpovwe led thousands of worshippers at the first post-COVID gathering of the church annual World Anointing Night service, his ministration drew many to a tearful conviction and deep hunger for a real encounter with the living God.

The much anticipated inter-denominational service saw thousands of worshippers from across the world including Canada, Netherlands, Ghana, and Zambia joining the service —physically and virtually. With the theme “My Year of Divine Performance”, the spiritually charged gathering was a momentous night filled with powerful worship, inspirational teachings, and the anointing ceremony to set the tone for the year ahead. The service had in attendance notable spiritual leaders, captain of industries and public officers including President, Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Daniel C. Okoh ably represented by Bishop Gbenga Ajaka; Emzor Group founder, Dr. Stella Okoli and Nollywood star actress, Eucharia Anunobi.
