Benue polls: Mzondu loses House seat as APC makes clean sweep of Green Chamber

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has swept eight of the 11 House of Representative seats in Benue State, with the PDP winning one.

This news comes as incumbent PDP House of Representative member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Benjamin Mzondu, failed to be reelected into the lower House.

Mzondu who polled 43, 803 was defeated by Dickson Tarkighir of the APC who polled 49,511 votes.

They include the following:

  1. RT. Hon. Blessing Onuh for Otukpo/ Ohimini federal constituency.
  2. Hon. David Ogewu for Oju/ Obi federal constituency.
  3. Hon. Agbese Philip for Ado/ Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo federal constituency.
  4. Chief Mrs Regina Akume Gboko/Tarka federal constituency.
  5. Arc. Achado Asema for Gwer/Gwer-West federal constituency.
  6. Hon. Sekav Iyortyom for Buruku federal constituency.
    7 Solomon Wombo for Logo/Katsina Ala/Ukuv federal constituency
  7. Dickson Tarkighir for Makurdi/Guma federal constituency
  8. Ojema Ojotu of the PDP won the Apa/Agatu federal constituency

As of the time of this report, the figures are still being collated.

However, Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has declared Blessing Onuh, of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), as the winner of the Otukpo/Ohimini last Saturday National Assembly Election in Benue state.

INEC Returning Officer, Professor Inner Mathias of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, (UAM), Benue State, made the declaration after the collation of results on Monday at the Zonal collation centre in Otukpo local government area of the state.

According to him, Blessing Onuh of APC pulled 29,031 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alex Ogbe of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), who pulled 21,741.

Our correspondent reports that Mrs Onuh is the incumbent house of representative for Otukpo/Ohimini.
