Benue State Police Command said it has arrested over 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, murderers and cultists recovering arms and ammunition from them. Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Abass, said the command had encounters with the hoodlums terrorising the residents:
“The hoodlums usually come from the neighbouring states of Nasarawa, Plateau and Cross River. The command redeployed intelligence officers to the flash points resulting in their arrest.
“The ‘Operation Zenda Commander, Justin Gberindyer and his operatives arrested 15 suspected armed robbers with 20 rounds of ammunition, four AK-47 rifles and magazines in Gboko and Kwande local government areas.
“The ‘Operation Zenda’ arrested 10 kidnappers in Otukpo, Ado and Ogbadibo communities. They specialised in kidnapping victims on their farms. “We intercepted them along Adantari-Otobi Road, Makurdi and recovered two Ak-47 rifles, magazine and pump action.
“Operatives killed three notorious bandits in Katsina Ala in Ukum Local Government. One of the bandits, Lorgom engaged the police in a gun duel at Katsina Ala Council Area but was later killed. Two others, Terdo and Orkulam were also neutralised in Ukum LG.
“Operatives arrested 10 suspected cultists in Makurdi and recovered pump action, Dane gun and 15 round of ammunition from them.”
Abass reiterated his commitment to bring to book perpetrators who burnt down the house of late DSP Emmanuel Agber at Ikpayongo as well as the destruction of other houses where two people lost their lives.
“People who speak the same language should imbibe alternative dispute resolution strategies to resolve issues.
