Benue PDP disowns Agbo, confirms Aondoakaa for 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State chapter, dismissed claims that Emmanuel Agbo was the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, describing such assertions as false and misleading.

In a statement signed by the party’s State Secretary, Dan Nyikwagh, the PDP said Emmanuel Agbo had never been nominated or recognised as its governorship candidate, insisting that any publication, video or public statement portraying him as such amounted to impersonation and an attempt to deceive the public.

The statement read: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State Chapter, under the Chairmanship of Rt Hon Ezekiel Adaji, wishes to unequivocally and categorically state that Emmanuel Agbo is not and has never been the Governorship Candidate of our great Party for the 2027 general elections.

“Any claim, publication, video, or public statement suggesting otherwise is a deliberate falsehood, a calculated act of impersonation, and a clear attempt to deceive the good people of Benue State. Emmanuel Agbo is an imposter and a political con artist peddling and sponsoring fake news for selfish and mischievous reasons.”

The party accused Agbo of sponsoring and spreading false information for personal interests and urged media organisations, social media users and members of the public to disregard any claims linking him to the PDP governorship ticket.

The party said it had already endorsed Chief Michael Aondoakaa  as its authentic governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

“The PDP through a transparent and unanimous consensus process duly affirmed by party leaders, stakeholders, and members, recognized Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, as the authentic and legitimate Governorship Candidate of the Party for the 2027 elections, a process that was duly monitored by the nation’s electoral umpire body, INEC.”

The party maintained that Aondoakaa’s emergence reflected the collective will of its members and had received broad support throughout Benue State.

The PDP further warned that it would not tolerate actions capable of creating confusion or undermining unity within the party.

It disclosed that legal and constitutional measures had been initiated to address what it described as acts of impersonation and misinformation.

The party called on security agencies, the media and the general public to remain vigilant and treat any narrative presenting Emmanuel Agbo as the PDP governorship candidate with caution.

It reaffirmed its commitment to remaining united and focussed on its plans for the 2027 elections under the leadership and candidacy of Chief Michael Aondoakaa.
