Benue: Media group hails Alia’s victory at Supreme Court

From Godwin Tsa, Abuja

The Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ) has congratulated Governor Hyacinth Alia on his affirmation by the Supreme Court as the validly elected governor of Benue State.

In a statement by its President, Dr.Anule Emmanuel, CBJ said the verdict by the apex court brought to an end the long legal tussle between the two main political parties in the State, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the group said the verdict had placed irrevocable legitimacy on the Alia administration to begin to deliver good governance to the people.

According to the group, Governor Alia needs to see this final verdict as the handiwork of God and a reflection of the will of the people for positive and impactful change in Benue, premised on social justice, transparency, and accountability.

The media group, therefore urged Governor Alia to extend the olive branch to his opponents and all Benue sons and daughters irrespective of their political affiliations for inclusive governance.

“Now that politics is over, it is time to work. The distraction should also be over. Our people desire peace, quality infrastructure, and impacts in all sectors of the economy. The administration requires our support to maintain the peace that will attract Investors into the state,” the statement said.
