The Chairman, Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, Henry Agba, has declared a curfew in the area, beginning from 8pm to 6am, following a rival cult clash, which claimed the lives of two people.

Speaking to newsmen on phone, in Makurdi, the state capital, yesterday, Agba said the curfew will last till further notice.

The chairman, who confirmed the killings, said: “There was a clash between rival cultists in the LG during which two people from both sides were killed. As a result of that, the LG became tense, so we had to place a night curfew to contain the situation.

“As of yesterday, movement ceased as of 8pm; so, at the moment, there is peace and normalcy has been restored,” he said.
