Benue lawyer launches book, Aza Gbagyo Foundation to assist youths tackle challenges

A Benue based lawyer and social activist, Barr Joseph Gbagyo, has launched a foundation, “AZA Gbagyo Foundation” to assist the youth tackle challenges facing them.

Gbagyo, during the launch at the weekend, also launched his book titled, “Gardens in the Graveyard, which speaks on the challenges of youths in the society saying he hopes to use the foundation assist them overcome the challenges.

“A lot of youths don’t see reading or studying as something worth sacrificing for any longer. This country belongs to all of us and because one hand do not carry load to the head, I feel that we should all join hands with the government and build this country and I want to begin with the youths,” Gbagyo said.

Gbagyo said he would help the youth in Benue to embark on ventures that will bring positive societal development, even if it means collaborating with other organizations to enable them project the image of Nigeria in good light instead of despising it.

The ceremony attracted lawyers, educationists, civil right activists, amongst others, who noted that some of the youths feel frustrated and have committed their strength and resources to seeking greener pastures abroad through illegal means.

They commended the founder saying the foundation would go a long way to bring succor to the youths.

The book reviewer, Mr Nathaniel Awuapila, said the book presents hope for the young people. It does present the reality that young people who aspire to do great things are also bound to face a challenge of fullfiling their ambitions.

“Today, this foundation promises to contribute towards the fulfilment of their dreams and aspirations of those young people.

Also speaking, Becky Akor, a gender desk development officer with Okaha Women and Children, an NGO, said after reading the book, her hope in the future has been strengthened as she also urged young people to read the book and strive hard to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
