A political pressure group, Benue Vanguard for Good Governance, has hailed deputy spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, as visionary lawmaker, speaking truth to power.
The group, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Patriot Apeh Oche, on Monday, described Agbese as “hero of democracy who should be celebrated for speaking truth to power”.
The group, while stating that lawmaker has the constitutional rights to hold opinion on any issues, including on issues affecting the All Progressives Congress ( APC), alleged that some highly placed persons in Benue has embarked a campaign of calumny against the deputy House spokesman.
It added that any attempt by anyone to silence Agbese, who represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, will be resisted by youths in the state.
“Agbese is a great asset to Benue and the role he is playing in National Assembly is not for his Constituency or Benue State alone, he is speaking for the entire House of Representatives and by extension, Nigerians.
“He has the right to form his opinion about anyone in Government, especially, issues affecting his political party, his State and the country at large. Like many other Nigerians, Agbese will not hesitate to speak out when anything is wrong, ” the group stated.
