The Movement for the Actualisation of Kwande Gubernatorial Ambition (MAKGA) has called on one of its own, the member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Hon. Terseer Ugbor, to contest for the governorship of Benue State, in 2027.

The group, made this known through a press conference held on December 29, 2025, in Makurdi. They stated that based on the gentleman agreement the incumbent Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia had with the party, he (Alia) would be vacating Government House, come May 2027.

MAKGA, who spoke through the convener, Leonard Ikyem, said the state governor had agreed on one tenure to  complete the last Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu’s tenure, calling on the Benue people to support Kwande to also complete the late Aper Aku’s tenure come 2027.

Ikyem said they are calling on Ugbor tocontest because he has performed credibly well as a legislator, representing the people of Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency of Benue State.

The convener said “He has been outspoken on the problems affecting the people of Kwande intermediate area and Benue State in general, particularly on the issue of insecurity and the welfare of the common man.

“The federal lawmaker has also executed projects in almost all the 26 council wards of Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, including water, education, and electricity projects.

“Within just 2years in office, he has successfully executed 10 agricultural empowerment programmes, touching every community in the constituency to boost food production, an unprecedented feat never achieved before.”

They also mentioned that Ugbor is responsible for amending the Student Loans Act signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which has provided opportunities to over 20,000 Benue students to pay their school fees for higher education.

They also noted that he has shown the right temperament, character, integrity, and vision to unite the state and move Benue in a new and positive direction for all its citizens.

MAKGA urged him to consider the call to join the governorship race as a call by Kwande people, a call from his constituents, and a call to service.

They commended other Kwande sons like the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Dr. Pius Akutah, former Chief of Staff to the Governor of Benue State, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, the member representing North Central on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Engr. Nick Wende, former Chairman, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission(BSIEC), Dr. Tersoo Loko and others who have already indicated interest and are making consultations for the 2027 governorship election.

They urged others from the Kwande intermediate area with impeccable credentials and track records to also step forward for the governorship, as MAKGA in consultation with the relevant stakeholders will soon be x-raying all the governorship aspirants from Kwande for a possible adoption and endorsement.

They therefore, stated their resolve, as the nation enters  2026 to intensify efforts to ensure the governorship is zoned to Kwande.
