Benin has suffered yet another major injury setback after Burnley defender, Cedric Hountondji was first ruled out of today’s decisive 2025 AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles.
Another central defender Olivier Verdon has now also pulled out of the tie on account of injury.
Benin coach, Gernot Rohr has already admitted the team will miss the injured Hountondji and as a result will be forced to play a flat back four against Nigeria.
Big central defender, Mohamed Tijani will now partner Yohan Roche in the heart of the back four, while the likes of Rachid Moumini and David Kiki will battle for the fullback positions.
