Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons’ head coach, stated that his team were not at their best in the 1-0 win over Botswana.

Nigeria struggled to penetrate the Mares’ defence despite dominating possession from start to finish.

The nine-time champions made no shots on goal in the first half and appeared disjointed at times.

Esther Okoronkwo set up Chiwendu Ihezuo for the winning goal on the dot of 90 minutes.

Madugu confessed Botswana make things difficult for his team.

“Individually we didn’t put up a very good performance, we’re not happy about this,” the 60-year-old said after the game.

“It was a tough game, highly competitive.”

The Super Falcons will face Algeria in their last group game on Sunday.

They need one point from the game to guarantee top spot in Group B.
