Igbo

The Eze Ndigbo Ifako Ijaiye Lagos State, Eze Michael Ezekwobi (Oyiomanatumba Nɗigbo Gbaagburugburu) has called on Ndigbo in the Diaspora to be proud to celebrate their culture and traditions in foreign lands.

In a statement made available to the media, the Anambra state-born Eze said it was sad that many Igbo outside Igbo land are gradually losing their identity to the culture of their host community.

“Today, some of our people and their children can’t even speak our language. I blame the parents for not inculcating our cultural values to the children. Little wonder then that such children hardly speak Igbo language. ”

On how he is addressing the problem, Eze Ezekwobi said. he use Igbo as the number one language during meetings. Even as he promotes New Yam festival within Ifako Ijaiye.

He assured that very soon, Ndigbo in Ifako Ijaiye would roll out drums to celebrate the festival with fanfares.
