Bayelsa police arrest 2 teenagers for stealing

Two teenagers are currently in Police net in Bayelsa State after they were arrested for stealing at the popular Swali Market in Yenagoa, the state capital.

According to investigations, the two suspects, David Agbagidi and Abel Miracle aged 14 and 12, respectively, were suspected to have stolen N134, 000 from a trader and board a tricycle popularly called Keke Napep to escape before their discussions gave them away prompting the driver of the tricycle to alert the Police.

The suspects, realising that they had been given away, reportedly jumped down from the tricycle to escape but the Police gave them a hot chase and arrested them.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Asinim Butwats, who confirmed the incident said investigations is on-going to know whom the teenagers are working for.

“The driver of the Tricycle, one Jacob Philip drove to the Julius Berger roundabout and alerted Policemen that he suspected the two children he was carrying were thieves. The children took to their heels and we’re chased and arrested by the Policemen.

The sum of one hundred and thirty thousand four hundred was recovered from them. They confessed to stealing the money from a bag belonging to an unknown person at Swali water side. Investigation is ongoing” he said.
