A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Cross River State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Victor-Felix Idem, has warned party stakeholders in the state to deliver their polling units in the 2027 general elections or forget negotiations for anything from the party.

Chief Idem gave the warning during the formal inauguration of the Cross River State executive of Cross River Arise, a political support group for the APC.

Idem, who is also the Director-General of the group, said, “If you have no capacity to deliver your polling unit, there will be no need to negotiate for anything from the party,” he said.

“If you are powerful, show it in your unit. We struggled to win during the last general elections and you cannot fail in your unit and ward, then claim to be the leader there,” he added.

He said the target of the group is to deliver massive votes for the APC across the entire state and that those who claim they have the capacity should be ready to prove it.

Idem insisted that President Bola Tinubu has changed things that remained unchanged for the last 30 years. He also stressed that Cross River State, under Governor Bassey Otu, has recorded new achievements in education, infrastructure and health, and charged the new executives to drive the message to the grassroots.

State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Chris Eta, welcomed the new support group, saying support groups make the party’s work easier by reaching areas the party may not access.

He tasked them to work collectively and design a structure that would minimise discontent within the group to actualise the re-election of Governor Bassey Otu.

Eta added that come 2027, the state would stand solidly behind President Tinubu because “he listens to the state and is addressing the oil dispute,” urging the group to take the message to units and wards across the state.
