Bandits operating at Dan-Musa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State killed a policeman and abducted 3 ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ibrahim Zarewa, who was billed to address the media on the matter at 7:30p.m could not do so. It was learnt that, “he had to go to the Federal Medical Centre to receive the corpse of the slain security officer.”
Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isa, confirmed the incident to Sunday Sun via a text message. He said: “On 9/03/2019 at about 14:00hrs, patrol team on election patrol along Gobirawa Falale-Maidabino feeder road, Danmusa LGA of Katsina State was ambushed by armed political thugs led by one Mani Doro, ‘m’, aged 40 years of Dunya village, Danmusa LGA of Katsina State (now at large) as a result of which the driver of the patrol vehicle, F/No.504614 CPL Mannir Usman attached to Danmusa Division was shot dead.
