Bandits

Suspected bandits attacked Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, killing an elderly woman and abducting three others.

The attack was reportedly carried out on Saturday night when residents were fast asleep and has caused panic in the community.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who revealed that operatives had been deployed to track down the attackers.

“We are doing everything possible to rescue the kidnapped victims and restore calm to the area,” Kiyawa said.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen arrived on motorcycles, parked at the village outskirts, and proceeded on foot into the community to avoid being detected.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said the murder of the elderly woman was “heartbreaking.”

“She pleaded with them not to take her son. They refused to listen to her. They shot her and took the young man away,” he shared.
