The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has called on security agencies to pursue and contain the marauding bandits terrorising villages in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas of Kano State.

Reacting to the recent bandit attack in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, on Saturday night, Senator Barau appealed to security agencies to intensify their efforts and take the fight directly to the criminal elements, reportedly coming from neighbouring states.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau insisted that the incursion of criminal elements into the two LGAs must be stopped immediately.

“I have received the distressing report of the killing of a woman and the kidnapping of three persons in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, Kano State, by marauding bandits from neighbouring states on Saturday night, when the villagers had retired for the night.

“This incident occurred just a few days after a similar case in Biresawa village, also in Tsanyawa LGA. I, therefore, call on our security agencies, who have previously engaged these criminals in the area, to double their efforts to rescue these innocent persons and decisively tackle these criminal elements. They must take the fight to them.

“We will not allow marauding criminals, fleeing from military operations in neighbouring states, to destabilise our communities. This incursion must stop forthwith. The security of our people’s lives and property is paramount. No stone will be left unturned in achieving this,” he said.
