The 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings changed somewhat following the end of the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the United States on Sunday night.

Chelsea won the Club World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Cole Palmer’s first-half brace and Joao Pedro’s strike secured the Blues’ triumph over the French Ligue 1 champions at MetLife Stadium.

A few players stood out during the competition and were awarded individual prizes.

Palmer was named Best Player of the Tournament, Desire Doué from PSG was named Best Young Player, Chelsea’s Robert Sánchez was named Best Keeper, and Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia was named Top Goalscorer.

However, ahead of this year’s Ballon d’Or presentation in September, discussions about the leading candidates for the renowned individual accolade have heated up following the completion of the Club World Cup.

Chelsea’s recent success in the Club World Cup has propelled at least one of their key player Palmer into the spotlight to be considered in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Prior to the Club World Cup, Palmer finished the 2024/25 season as Chelsea’s top scorer with 15 goal and 11 assists.
