BAL, PUMA seal multi-year partnership ahead of 2026 Season

Basketball Africa League partners with PUMA as official outfitter for 2026 season

The Basketball Africa League has announced a multi-year collaboration with global sportswear giant PUMA, naming the German brand as the league’s Official Outfitter.

The partnership, set to commence with the 2026 BAL season, will officially tip off on March 27 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria. Under the agreement, PUMA will provide all official apparel for the league, including team kits, fan merchandise, referee uniforms, warm-up gear, and practice wear. The deal also covers accessories and branded outfits for participants involved in the league’s social impact and player development programmes.

In addition, fans will have access to the new merchandise line, which celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of African basketball culture. The apparel will be available at BAL venues, online stores, and select retail outlets across South Africa.

BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall described the agreement as a significant step in advancing the league’s vision.

“Our collaboration with PUMA reflects our shared commitment to elevating the African sports industry and basketball in particular,” Fall said. “PUMA’s innovation, creativity and deep connection to the continent’s sports ecosystem make them an ideal partner as we continue to raise standards and enhance the experience for teams, players and fans.”

Also speaking, PUMA’s Vice President of Sports Marketing and Sport Licensing, Johan Adamsson, noted that the deal aligns with the company’s global growth strategy.

“The collaboration with the BAL is an important step in PUMA’s commitment to growing the game worldwide,” Adamsson said. “We look forward to bringing our performance technology to the forefront and connecting with BAL fans across the globe.”

PUMA now joins a growing list of BAL partners, including the Rwanda Development Board, Afreximbank, Air Senegal, Amazon Web Services, Castle Lite, and RwandAir, as the league continues to expand its commercial footprint across the continent and beyond.
