Bagudu ‘s wife secures freedom for 42 inmates in Kebbi

Wife of  Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Dr. Zainab  Bagudu, in collaboration with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and Federation of Female Lawyers(FIDA), has secured freedom for 42 prison inmates.

  Dr Bagudu, who  paid N2 million for the inmates to regain their freedom under the programme of ‘ Prisoners’ Release, Rehabilabiton and Reintegration (P-R3) programme, also provided skills acquisition, compensation, counseling and N10,000 allowance to each inmates to a start a new life.

Daily Sun gathered that the governor’s wife and FIDA were targeting 80 inmates to be freed under the programme designed to decongest the prisons in the state.

Addressing the freed inmates, yesterday, the Vice President of Nigeria Bar Association, Kebbi State Chapter, who is also the Chairperson of FIDA, Barrister Kudirat Shu’aibu, said the prisoners’ release, rehabilitation and reintegration programme was created to help prison decongestion and give first time offenders a second chance.
