THE Niger Delta Avengers has dissociated itself from an earlier endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid by some ex-militant leaders.
NDA said it has adopted the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for tomorow’s election .
In a statement by its spokesman, Muddoch Agbinibo, yesterday, NDA described those who endorsed Buhari, of the ruling All Progressive Congress as “selfish and enemies of the Niger Delta.”
Agbinibo said the group is committed to “an iron clad” strategy to ensure free and fair elections conducted under peaceful atmosphere.
“The high command is convinced that when elected, the government of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will not only restructure Nigeria but will reverse the inimical ownership rights to natural resources alongside promises that fall within the basis upon which we declared ‘Operations Red Economy’ against the evil government of Nigeria.
“We use this medium to advise Atiku that, when elected into office, the cardinal demands of restructuring of Nigeria should kick-start within six months to forestall further agitation from the Niger Delta. As a warning and closing note, we want to tell members of the international community, multinational corporations and subsidiaries’ operatives to withdraw their workforce and services from Niger Delta within the period of these elections…”
