AHEAD of the burial of former Bayelsa State governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseiga this weekend, his colleague of Akwa Ibom, Chief Victor Attah and a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Godknows Igali, were among notable Nigerians that converged on Abuja at the weekend to honour the late state chief executive.
The event was a night of tributes organised by the Association of Bayelsa State Indigenes Abuja (ABSIA) to kick start the final journey of the demised hero of Niger Delta struggle for resource control.
Attah in a glowing tribute to his late colleague pointed out that they jointly pursued the resource control agitation for the well-being of Niger Deltans.
He said that the former Bayelsa governor was a dogged fighter who loved his people without bounds.
Chairman on the occasion, Igali eulogised Alamieyeseigha as an embodiment of simplicity, soft spoken and easily forgiving man, who saw the need for the Ijaws to have a university and went on to establish the Niger Delta University, in Amassoma.
