The police said they have arrested one person over the attack on the convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

Police Public Relations (PPRO), Borno Command, Sani Kamilu said a 32 years old man (names withheld), was arrested with stone for attempting to obstruct the convoy of the PDP candidate on his return to the Maiduguri airport after the campaign rally.

“One person name, 32 years old, who attempted to disrupt the convoys along the airport road was arrested by the Police inside a church after a hot chase,” he disclosed.

He also dismissed claim of attack at the presidential campaign rally, describing the video of the purported attack at the Ramat Square as false.
“There has been a fake news circulating,” he said.
