As the campaign for the 2023 presidential election enters its final stage, the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Usman Bayero Nafada, has disclosed that the presidential candidate of the party Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the candidate to win the coming presidential election.

According to Bayero, Atiku and the PDP will win the presidential election in 26 states of the federation, “and that is what is needed for a candidate to be declared a winner.”

The former senator from Gombe North Senatorial District stated this in an interview with newsmen at his residence in Gombe. He said, “the 2023 presidential election has been concluded as far as the policies of APC are concerned because everybody in Nigeria today is suffering and the presidential candidate of the APC has been saying that he will start from where President Buhari stopped and we are all seeing where he is now, he has not stopped yet but we are experiencing the suffering everywhere in the country, both the rich and the poor”.

According to him, Atiku is a much better candidate than Tinubu, and comparing both candidates would be like comparing black and white. He said, “Atiku cannot be compared with Tinubu, because Atiku has served this country as vice president and we have seen what they have done during their time and how stable Nigeria was then.

“I believe he (Atiku) was one of the factors that made Nigeria stable at that time, therefore if he comes back now as the president, he will continue from where they stopped, we all know how much the dollar was changing during their time, we know the prices of essential commodities then. We are very sure that Atiku and the PDP will win the presidential election,” Bayero said.

Commenting on the activities of the G-5 governor, the former lawmaker assured that it is not an issue to worry much about for his party. According to him, “When you talk about G-5 governors you are only talking about only one governor the remaining governors are just nominal members of the so-called G-5 governors.

“You have seen what was happening, we have not been to Rivers state for a rally but we have been to all the other four states of the so-called G-5, the governors received us and the rallies were successful there.

Do you think the governor of Enugu state who is contesting for Senate will ask his people not to vote PDP, likewise the governor of Benue state, even the Wike himself has his candidates contesting for Senate and house reps in the PDP and the election is the same day, so campaigning against the Party is campaign themselves. I don’t think the issue of the G-5 is an issue to worry much about and I believe it will be resolved before the election day,” Bayero stated.
