ATHFBON: Enugu chapter unites hospitality operators

The Association of Tourism, Hospitality, Food and Beverages Operators of Nigeria (ATHFBON), Enugu State Chapter, has emerged as an umbrella body for hospitality businesses across the state, with more than 600 registered members spread across the 17 local government areas.

The association brings together hoteliers, restaurateurs, fast-food operators, open bars, lounges, caterers, hospitality consultants and food and drinks suppliers. Its Enugu State Secretariat is located at City Light Villa & Suite, No. 10 Nwodo Street, GRA, Enugu, while the chapter is affiliated with the national body led by its National President and Founder, Chief Mgboh Mike (JP).ATHFBON Enugu said it works with relevant government and regulatory institutions, including the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Standards Organisation of Nigeria and the Enugu State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.The association said its activities include registering and certifying hospitality operators, advocating for members’ business interests, providing quarterly training on food safety, hygiene, customer service and hospitality management, as well as linking members with government agencies and business support opportunities. It also promotes made-in-Enugu food, culture and tourism through food festivals, hospitality summits, exhibitions and awards.According to the representatives, its vision is to build a united and world-class hospitality industry capable of creating jobs, promoting tourism and contributing to economic growth in Enugu State. It is also seeking to promote Enugu as a major hospitality destination in the South-East while providing a common platform for operators to address industry challenges.The association is chaired in Enugu State by Hon. Comrade Udeh Gilbert, with Uche Decency serving as secretary, while Ajibo Nathaniel heads the Fundraising Committee and Mrs. Nneka serves as secretary. Among its major programmes for 2026 is the planned official flag-off and inauguration of the first Enugu Hospitality Summit, Food Festival and Awards. The association’s motto is “Unity, Protection & Promotion of Hospitality Business.”
