The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru (FUAZ) in Kebbi State has issued a 21 day ultimatum to the institution’s governing council and the management team over non implementation of the Federal Government/ASUU agreement.

Making this known after its congress held at FUAZ auditorium, ASUU maintained that they wondered why those agreements were not being implemented for them while other institutions enjoy the same.

A press statement signed by the branch ASUU chairman, Comrade Danbuachi Ishaq Sanchi listed some of their grievances to include the non implementation of the 40% upwards reviewed academic emoluments and the payment of various outstanding entitlements.

“The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the implementation of the agreement and issued the necessary circular directing compliance”.

Comrade Danbauchi further maintained that, the Federal Government subsequently released funds to federal universities for the payment of 5 months accumulated Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (ACTA) arrears.

He however decried that FUAZ ASUU discovered with utter dismay that they were denied these benefits which they are legitimately entitled to despite FUAZ being the only federal University established in Nigeria and made operational without any take off grant.

“But despite these challenges, members of ASUU-FUAZ have continued to discharge their academic responsibilities with dedication, professionalism and patience in hope that the situation would be resolved”.

However, the FUAZ-ASUU having exhausted all reasonable expectations for amicable resolutions therefore resolved at its Congress to issue a 21 day ultimatum to both the management and council from 29th July, 2026 which failure to meet up with their demands at the end of the 21 days would lead to strike action.

“We therefore demand immediate implementation of the FGN-ASUU 2025 Agreement in its entirety at the Federal University of Agriculture Zuru. And immediate payment of the 5 months accumulated CATA arrears and all other outstanding financial entitlements due to members”.

The FUAZ-ASUU congress that arrived at this resolutions had in attendance, ASUU national visiting team such as Comrade Lawal Argungu, Murtala Abdullahi from Kwara, Aliyu Ahmed and the ASUU Sokoto Zone Coordinator, Comrade Professor Abubakar Sabo.
