Members of the Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA), are currently grieving over the sudden death of their grand-patron, late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died in London at the weekend.
To this end, the union, on Sunday, announced that its official flag will be flown at half-mast starting today (Monday).
In a statement signed by ASPMDA Secretary, Juventus Uche Okpala-Okaka, the ASPMDA President, Ngozi Emechebe expressed profound shock over the loss.
“ASPMDA is still in shock that our Grand-Patron is no more,” she said. “The passing of one of our illustrious members and Grand-Patron remains a rude shock to all of us. We are in deep mourning and have declared a three-day mourning period starting today, Monday, in honor of our departed Grand-Patron, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.”
“A condolence register will be opened at the ASPMDA Hall for the three days of mourning, allowing members to pay their respects”, the statement said.
Emechebe highlighted some of the late grand-patron’s significant contributions, including the donation of a massive firefighting truck and the installation of ultra-modern solar street lights that illuminated the entire ASPMDA complex.
“Apart from his infrastructural support, Senator Ubah was always available to address any challenges faced by ASPMDA promptly,” she said.
Earlier this year, Senator Ubah played a crucial role in brokering peace during a political dispute within ASPMDA, leading to an amicable resolution of the crisis.
