The Arewa Youths Assembly has congratulated the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Architect Sonny Echono, on his double win in international education awards.
Echono received the African Leadership Excellence Award in Educational Development from the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, HE Philip Davis, in London, and the 2024 Anthology Visionary Award for Leadership in Transforming Education through Technology in the USA.
The awards recognize Echono’s efforts in promoting digital literacy, academic excellence, and research in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
The Arewa Youth Assembly hailed Echono as a great leader who has brought transparency, accountability, and innovation to TETFUND.
According to the group, Echono’s awards have brought international recognition to Nigeria’s education sector, showcasing the country’s commitment to academic excellence and technological advancement.
In a statement by Mohammed Salihu Danlami, the Speaker of Arewa Youth Assembly, the group said: “You (Echono) indeed deserve every honour that is accorded to you, because greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit too soon it must be possess long before it is acknowledged.
“We are very proud of your numerous achievements since you assumed the leadership of Tetfund. As a Youth organization, we are happy to associate with your esteemed personality because of the transparency, accountability, innovation, initiative, and patriotism that your leadership has brought to TETFUND.”
The group also conferred on him the honorary title of ‘Jagoran Ilmin Naijeriya’ (Leader of Education in Nigeria).
“We have no other ways to thank and encourage you for restoring the lost glory in our tertiary institutions than to confer on you the Arewa Youth Assembly’s highest ranked educational honorary title of ‘JAGORAN ILIMIN NAJERIYA’, to further consolidate your efforts and appreciate you for placing Nigeria’s name so high on the global scale of education.
“As you continue to serve our dear country and humanity, my prayer is for Almighty Allah to continue to protect you and give you more wisdom to continue to actualise the educational plans of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Danlami added.
