Oyo and Jigawa states chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are confident of meeting their membership registration target of 350,000 and one million respectively by January 30, 2026, as the party’s nationwide electronic registration exercise enters its final stages.

The APC, at the national level, had announced the flag off of a fresh registration of its members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The exercise, designed to be carried out electronically, is aimed at getting the names and relevant personal information of existing and new members in a database for the purpose of management, planning and strategy by the party.

In a statement, APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Olawale Sadare, expressed optimism that the party would overcome initial challenges and achieve its goal, due to the efforts of critical leaders and stakeholders.

“We’re proud of our members, who worked tirelessly to address logistics and other issues, ensuring the smooth conduct of the registration exercise.

“Our stakeholders’ meetings across the 14 federal constituencies were a huge success, showcasing the party’s energy and passion,” Sadare said.

The APC, according to him, aims to increase its voter base by 40 per cent from the 449,884 votes it secured for President Bola Tinubu in 2023, with sights set on reclaiming power in the state by 2027.

“Other things being equal, our great party would be able to boast of over 350,000 organic members at the end of the exercise on January 30 and the fear would be maximally used to facilitate the realisation of our two core objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He encouraged residents of the state to take advantage of the registration exercise, which is open to anyone 18 years and above with a National Identification Number (NIN) and Permanent Voter Card (PVC).

“Every eligible resident should visit a registration centre and get registered, indicating their readiness to participate in party activities and support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.

Sadare explained that registration centres are available across the state’s 33 local government councils, offering an opportunity for citizens to shape the party’s future and contribute to the country’s development.

Similarly, APC in Jigawa said it was targeting over one million members in the ongoing e-registration exercise across the state.

The party’s chairman, Mr Aminu Sani, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists on the progress of the exercise in Dutse.

Sani said party leaders had mobilised members extensively to ensure massive participation and achieve the target set for the registration drive.

He added that the state chapter provided logistical support, facilities and training to ensure the successful conduct of the exercise.

According to him, all 27 local government chapters assisted in procuring devices, including tablets and computers, to ensure hitch-free registration.

“Our dashboard as of yesterday shows that over 89,000 people have been registered so far,” Sani said.

He urged interested individuals to register promptly, noting that the e-registration exercise would close on Jan. 30, 2026.

“APC e-registration is ongoing in all LGAs, and we expect our supporters to take advantage of the exercise,” he added.

On INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Sani urged eligible citizens to participate, describing the exercise as vital for strengthening democracy.

“Your Permanent Voter’s Card is your right. Without a PVC, you cannot vote during elections,” he said.

He advised residents who had relocated to validate their details, while newly eligible youths were encouraged to register without delay.

Governor Umar Namadi earlier urged residents to participate actively in the CVR, citing low turnout in the state and northern region.
