APC: Real reason campaign council list is delayed

Fresh facts have emerged on why release of the comprehensive list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential National Campaign Council is stalled.

Our source hinged the delay on failure of governors and the presidential candidate to resolve their differences and submit a list to the party for its input and inclusion of certain other persons before it would be finally released to the public.

“The APC NWC is still waiting for the presidential candidate to resolve their differences over names to be included in the list before handing over to the leadership of the party for final input and release to the public.

“As we speak, the presidential candidate is yet to sort out the differences with the APC governors that are bent on inclusion of certain persons in the list. That has been responsible for the denial of the lists already released earlier even though it is an authentic list,” our source claimed.

Meanwhile, the party has finally bowed to pressure and settled party members who had threatened to ground activities at the headquarters over delay in paying them for performing committee functions during its national convention and the recent presidential primary.

Members had threatened legal action against the leadership of the ruling party to get the payment that has lasted over four months, but the Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC) remained adamant.

However, a member of the national leadership disclosed that the party has finally commenced payment and many of them have already gotten the payment alert.

“You can say that there is nothing happening in the party, but the good news is that we have started paying our members that performed one committee function or the other for the party. I can tell you that we started the payment this week and many of them have even got their alert. We want to avoid, as much as possible, the negative press it has generated.”

The party has even gone a step further to accommodate state chapters in the sharing of funds generated through sales of expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2023 general elections.

“Let me also inform you that the national leadership has resolved and earmarked a certain percentage of the amount generated from sale of nomination forms to accommodate the state chapters. Don’t forget that some of the nomination forms are for state elections like governorship and State Assemblies.

“The decision is part of measures the NWC is putting in place to reduce friction and tension in our party across the country. It is also part of efforts to reduce bitterness over what many party members tagged poor reward system of our party,” he noted.
