APC NWC, governors meet today

APC-chairman

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will today, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, meet with state governors on the platform of the party under the auspices of APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

A source told Daily Sun that the agenda of the meeting would not be unconnected with the lingering controversy rocking the party over the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list.

Both the national leadership of the party and members of the governors forum have expressed disappointment over the attitude of the leadership of the PCC, especially as it concerns the exclusion of certain interests in the comprehensive list released recently.

“The NWC and members of the PGF will meet on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat. Of course, you are aware that the misunderstanding over the PCC list will certainly form part of the agenda of the meeting. We want to also harmonise arrangements on possible date to propose to President Muhammadu Buhari for our National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

“In fact, so many other issues will be discussed especially the deliberation on the activities for the kick-off of our presidential campaign. We cannot continue to pretend that all is well with our party while other parties have kick-started their campaigns. It will be a loaded agenda, the precursor and build-up to our NEC,” our source said.

Similarly, the national headquarters of the party has become a huge construction site, thanks to the magnanimity of the State governors, currently jostling to outdo each other in renovating the dilapidating secretariat.

Ignoring the anxiety of many secretariat staff over the integrity of the three storey structure, several APC governors have deployed resources to renovate either one office or the other.

According to the staff; “we are no longer worried that our September salary is yet to be paid or about the endless renovation going on since the national chairman resumed, but our worry is whether they ascertain the integrity of the building before adding those blocks.”
