The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State a zero rating for his governance over the past three years.

Adeleke in his self-assessment on the occasion of his three-year anniversary in office, on Friday, declared that the state has become a benchmark for effective governance and democratic progress.

In a state broadcast, Adeleke highlighted the challenges he faced upon taking office, including the non-payment of pensions, significant backlogs of unpaid salaries, and an infrastructure deficit exceeding 80 per cent. He also addressed issues such as low pupil performance in national examinations, inadequate healthcare access, corruption in the mining sector, neglect of science and technology, lack of sports development, minimal support for agriculture, and the absence of cooperative empowerment initiatives.

Three years later, the governor stated that the narrative in Osun has shifted positively, with widespread recognition of the state’s transformation.

But, during a press conference at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, on Friday, the APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, represented by the Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, criticised Adeleke for failing to recruit teachers and for neglecting the agriculture sector, saying that the self-assessment of Adeleke is deceitful.

“Governor Adeleke has shown a preference for projects that attract public funds while neglecting critical areas such as education, health, agriculture, security, and transportation. His administration has primarily focused on constructing needless and poorly executed flyovers and roads that do not meet basic engineering standards,” Lawal explained.

He accused the governor of nepotism and favoritism, claiming that 90 per cent of development projects are concentrated in his hometown and that over half of political appointees are from Adeleke’s family and community.
