The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has distanced its party from the killing of Ajayi Rogba on Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government of the state.
Governor Ademola Adeleke was seen in a video during his visit to the family of the deceased, cursing the Director General campaign council of the APC, and linking him to the death.
A video was later circulated where the cult member of the deceased were holding a procession to mourn him.
The chairman of the APC campaign council in Obokun local government, Prof. Siji Olamiju, who led the APC to the town yesterday, condemned the attempts by some political actors to exploit this tragedy for partisan purposes.
He said, “The death of a young man should never become an opportunity for political point-scoring or propaganda. Such actions are insensitive to the grief of the bereaved family and detrimental to the pursuit of justice.
“We are particularly concerned that certain individuals have hastily linked this unfortunate incident to politics without allowing the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conclude their investigations. Justice can only be achieved through a thorough, impartial and professional investigation not through speculation, political rhetoric or media trials.
“It is equally important to emphasise that the APC Ward 7 and the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke, have absolutely no connection whatsoever with the circumstances surrounding the death of Ajayi Rogba. Attempts to implicate the party or Hon. Wole Oke are entirely baseless, politically motivated and unsupported by any credible evidence.

“We respectfully urge His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and all public office holders to exercise restraint and allow law enforcement agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities independently and without interference or premature conclusions.
“We also call on the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to conduct a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased investigation by pursuing every credible lead and inviting all individuals whose testimonies may assist in uncovering the truth.
“This should include Erebe, Dele Ajayi, Barr. Idowu Akinshola, Abuga, Muri, Mewo White, and any other persons considered relevant by investigators. No individual should be exempted from lawful investigation, and no one should be presumed guilty without due process.
“The circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident have generated public concern and varying accounts within the community. While different narratives continue to circulate, we firmly believe that only the outcome of a credible investigation should determine the true facts surrounding Ajayi Rogba’s death.
“We therefore appeal to all residents of Esa-Oke and the general public to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and cooperate fully with security agencies as they carry out their investigations.
“The APC remains committed to the rule of law, justice and accountability. We firmly maintain that whoever is found culpable after a lawful and impartial investigation-regardless of political affiliation, social status or influence-must face the full weight of the law.
“Finally, we call on all political stakeholders to respect the memory of the deceased by allowing truth, justice and due process to prevail over politics and unfounded accusations,” Olamiju said.
I’m sorry, sir. I will adjust accordingly.
