The All Progressives Congress has completed the upload of its candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 general elections on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has said.
Yilwatda disclosed this after the party concluded the process, saying the APC completed the submission ahead of the original deadline set by INEC.
According to him, the exercise covered candidates for positions ranging from the State Houses of Assembly to the presidential election and involved coordination between the party’s national and state structures, candidates and election management teams.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the early completion demonstrated the party’s organisational capacity and preparedness for the 2027 elections.
He said the APC had completed the process within the original timeframe, while some other political parties subsequently sought additional time from INEC to submit their candidates’ lists.
INEC later extended the deadline for the submission of candidates’ lists from August 8 to August 11, 2026.
Yilwatda said the party’s ability to complete the exercise before the initial deadline reflected the importance of early planning, coordination and compliance in managing a nationwide political organisation.
“The APC has once again demonstrated that we are prepared for the responsibility of governing Nigeria. We did not wait until the last minute. We planned ahead, coordinated our structures and ensured that our candidates were successfully uploaded before the expiration of the original deadline,” he said.
The APC chairman said the 2027 elections would require political parties to demonstrate strong organisational capacity because of the scale and complexity of the electoral process.
He said the candidate-upload exercise required coordination among the APC national secretariat, state chapters, candidates and election management teams across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Yilwatda urged Nigerians to assess political parties not only by their campaign promises but also by their organisational systems, internal coordination and compliance with electoral requirements.
He said completing the candidate upload ahead of schedule would enable the APC to concentrate on other areas of its preparations, including campaign coordination, candidate engagement, voter mobilisation, grassroots organisation and policy communication.
Yilwatda commended members of the party’s National Working Committee, state leadership, candidates, election management teams and other officials involved in the submission process.
He, however, said the completion of the upload was only one stage of the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, urging members to remain united and disciplined.
“The work has only begun. Completing the upload ahead of schedule gives us confidence, but it also places a greater responsibility on us. We must remain united, disciplined and focused,” he said.
The APC chairman added that the party would continue to strengthen its structures and internal systems ahead of the 2027 general elections.
