The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his 65th birthday on Tuesday, May 13, urging him to prioritise quality governance for the state’s “visibly deprived” residents.
In a message by APC State Director of Media, Kola Olabisi, the party criticised the lack of significant democratic dividends since Adeleke’s inauguration over two years ago.
“It is quite unfortunate that since the Governor Adeleke-led administration was inaugurated over two years ago, there has been little or nothing for the residents of the state to have unfettered access to meaningful dividends of democracy,” Olabisi stated. He questioned whether Adeleke is concerned that “the proverbial birds have not been crying like birds while the plight of the rats too has been in a state of inertia.”
The APC, describing itself as a caring opposition, encouraged Adeleke to use his birthday as an opportunity to rethink policies that have hindered his administration. “We know that when you ruminate over your past records in the government since over two years ago, it would strike your mind that state governance indeed is not a tea party,” Olabisi said, reminding the governor that his four-year term is nearing its end.
Olabisi advised Adeleke to avoid divisive, oppressive, and vindictive governance, warning that such approaches yield no substantial benefits. “It is expedient to inform you, as the state governor, that those of us who are ardent critics of your administration are those who put the advancement of the state on the front burner instead of the ubiquitous praise singers masquerading as your allies who are the real enemies of the state,” he added.
