From Paul Orude, Bauchi
The outcome of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi Federal Constituency appears to have taken a dramatic turn as some major aspirants are now holding victory rallies and laying claim to victory.
It all appeared smooth on Saturday morning as our correspondent witnessed the distribution of election materials at the APC state headquarters to local governments and wards from the morning until about 3pm.
The aspirants contesting for the ticket of the Bauchi Federal Constituency seat include Idris Isa Yuguda, son of former governor Isa Yuguda, Engineer Abdullahi Sirajo Jibril, Hon Salisu Sabi (Salisuya), and the only female contender, Hon Badi’yatu Inuwa (Siyama).

However, a visit to Baba Sidi and other wards showed many voters waiting for materials under the sun. As of about 6pm, officials expected to supervise the direct primaries were nowhere in sight. Visits to other wards revealed a similar situation, while by about 6:30pm, many party faithful had started leaving the venues.
Around 7:30pm, our correspondent also witnessed some aspirants and their supporters celebrating alleged victories across the Bauchi metropolis.
One of the aspirants, who pleaded anonymity, said there was clearly no primary election in Bauchi Federal Constituency and questioned why some aspirants were already declaring victory.
Although the APC chairman declined comment despite several calls and text messages, our correspondent gathered that no primary election was effectively conducted in Bauchi Federal Constituency, as the party was allegedly considering imposing a consensus candidate, a development said to be generating discontent among other aspirants.
