APC, ADC, NDC chieftains storm Zamfara to commiserate with Yari

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Thursday led a high-powered Federal Government delegation and chieftains of both ruling and opposition political parties to Zamfara State to commiserate with the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Dr Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, over the death of his maternal aunt and immediate younger sister of his mother, Hajiya Rukiya Jibril.

Delivering the condolence message from President Bola Tinubu, the SGF told Yari and his family members that they were not alone in their moment of grief, describing death as a transition and a return to Allah, taking place according to His divine will and wisdom.

Akume encouraged the bereaved family to take solace in their faith and the knowledge that the deceased had completed her earthly journey and returned to her creator.

“We pray for the forgiveness of her sins, the acceptance of her good deeds and the granting of Allah’s infinite mercy upon her soul. We hope that Allah will grant her a place among the righteous,” he consoled.

Responding, Senator Yari expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the gesture of compassion and solidarity extended to him and his family, thanking the SGF and all members of the delegation for making the journey to Talata Mafara to personally honour the deceased and stand with the family during their period of mourning.

Yari described the visit as a great source of comfort, encouragement and strength to him and the entire family, soliciting Allah’s continued guidance, protection and blessings upon the SGF, the members of the delegation, President Tinubu and the Federal Government.

“I appeal to Nigerians to remember my late maternal aunt in their prayers and pray for Allah’s forgiveness, mercy and peaceful repose for her soul,” he prayed.

On the Federal Government delegation were Niger State Governor, Umar Bago; National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Bashiru; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, amongst others.

Figures from opposition parties in attendance included former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal accompanied by Senator Abdul Ningi, representative of the African Democratic Congress. Senator Tony Nwoye led members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress on the condolence visit.
