Anxiety has gripped the members of the Kano State Executive Council following the presentation of a list of six commissioner nominees to the House of Assembly.
The nominees, which were submitted to the House days ago included Kabir Jibrin, Shehu Kura Muhammad Na’Allah, Isyaku Ibrahim Kunya, Salisu Muhammad Tudun Kaya, Amina Inuwa Fagge and Garba Ibrahim Tsayanwa.
The development, according to sources, is currently generating concerns as the Governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf had only recently directed the Secretary to the State Government to issue an evaluation form to all the 18 commissioners in the state.
It will be recalled that during their swearing in ceremony at the Government House, months ago, Abba had promised a periodic performance evaluation for the commissioners as well as pledged to show the way out to underperforming ones.
A top politician, who sought anonymity, explained that either the Governor intends to reshuffle his cabinet now that he has finished his court case or he would create a additional ministries to accommodate his fresh nominees.
“Whichever way he goes, the likely choice is that he might discharge some for the old commissioners. He might not want to create more ministries in the state, especially now that the slogan is for governments to downsize,” he stated .
