Another PDP chieftain, Oduoye joins APC in Osun

A former House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Odo-Otin\Boripe\Ifelodun federal constituency in Osun State, Barr. Kayode Oduoye, on Sunday bled hundreds of his followers in Ifelodun Local Government to the All Progressives Congress.
In a letter addressed to Acting chairman of the PDP in ward 03, Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government, Oduoye who is the son of late Senator Simeon Oduoye, said his sojourn as a member of the PDP in the last two decades ended on August 23, 2024.
Oduoye in the letter titled: “Resignation as a member of PDP,” stated that the resignation was on line with the right, provided for him in the constitution.
“In exercise of my constitutional right of Freedom of Association entrenched in chapter IV-Art 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(As Ammended); THE RIGHT to belong or associate with
any political party of choice remains inalienable.
“In the light of this, I hereby exercise this right and freedom of association by resigning my membership of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from today/23rd August 2024.
“My sojourn as a member of People’s Democratic Party/PDP over the last Two Decades comes to an end with effect from this day/23rd August 2024,” Oduoye said.
A member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun and a governorship aspirant in the party, Dotun Babayemi, who joined the APC recently, had said that many people would follow them to the APC.
