Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, has spotlighted key reforms aimed at transforming the agency into a more efficient, staff-friendly organization.

Highlighted initiatives include the introduction of a fully automated, merit-based promotion examination system, the enhancement of working conditions across tax offices, and the procurement of staff buses to alleviate commuting difficulties.

In a statement signed by Head, Corporate Communications, FCT-IRS, Mustapha Sumaila, speaking during a recent staff appreciation event themed “A Night with Ango,” the Acting Chairman expressed his appreciation for the staff’s recognition of his visionary leadership and reiterated his commitment to prioritizing staff welfare and professional growth within the Service.

“I am very honoured and very appreciative of your efforts to appreciate me. When I first resumed, I made a commitment to ensure that staff welfare, particularly salary increments and career progression, remain at the top of our agenda. I want to assure you that, by the grace of God and with your support, we will achieve these goals,” Ango stated.

He stressed that these reforms are designed not only to foster an improved work environment but also to establish a legacy of organisational excellence that will endure through generations. “Leaders will come and go, employees will come and go, but the organisation will remain. What we are building today will stand the test of time so that our children and their children can find pride in working here one day,” he noted.

Ango also called for collective dedication among staff to embrace the ongoing changes that aim to boost operational efficiency and overall productivity.

The staff event was marked by goodwill messages, acknowledgments of Ango’s humility and accessibility, and a shared commitment to the continued progress of FCT-IRS.
