The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has elected bishops for the 15 newly created dioceses across the country.
A statement from the church indicated that the election was conducted by the House of Bishops at its Episcopal Synod on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti, in Ekiti Diocese.
The new bishops and their dioceses are Diocese of Irele/Ese-Odo (Ven Samuel Ogunmiluyi), Diocese of Ekiti South (Ven Francis Bankole), Diocese of Kalabari (Ven Boma Briggs), Diocese of Lagos South West (Ven Dr. Adewole Ajayi), Diocese of Omoku (Ven Richard N. Okpara) and the Diocese of Ozoro (Ven Dr. Benjamin Idume).
“Missionary Diocese of Idanre (Ven Bode Otenaike), Missionary Diocese of Ikom (Ven David Michson), Missionary Diocese of Keffi (Ven Dr. Paul Dajur), Missionary Diocese of Nasarawa (Ven Dr. Luka B. Allu), Missionary Diocese of Ogoja (Ven Ifeanyi Akunna), Missionary Diocese of Oyo South (Ven Dr. Ebenezer Familoni), Missionary Diocese of Oyun (Ven Solomon Adewumi), Missionary Diocese of Takum (Rev’d Canon Rika G. Ibrahim), and Missionary Diocese of Zuru (Ven Dr. Ayuba Kanta).
The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev. Dr Henry Ndukuba, called on the faithful to pray and support the newly created dioceses and elected servants of God and their families as they go into their new places of assignment after all the due processes, training and consecration had been concluded. He also called on them to continually seek God’s face for direction in their new roles
The Primate added that the inauguration of the new dioceses and enthronement of the bishops-elect would be announced in the days ahead, while the consecration of the newly elected bishops would be held on November 9, 2025, in Abuja.
