The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has reaffirmed its commitment in providing total support for the Super Eagles in Morocco during the African Nations Cup.
Reacting to the recent communication from the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the unified Supporters Club which stated that the National Sports Commission cannot fly them to support participation for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, the ANFASSC president, Abayomi Ogunjimi popularly known as Bonfrefre noted that he is not party to the decision and would be in Morocco with a team of supporters to make the Super Eagles proud.
“While the timing of this development is unfortunate, ANFASSC wishes to emphasis that our commitment to the Super Eagles remains firm, independent, and driven by patriotism, irrespective of institutional support,” he stated
He noted that the ANFASSC also considers it important to provide clarity on the long-standing issue of supporters’ collaboration in Nigerian football. “The original concept and direction of supporters’ unification were moved and altered at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) level, which disrupted the intended framework for collaboration. Subsequently, the process has not progressed under the IMC leadership, largely due to persistent concerns around transparency, fairness, inclusivity, and stakeholder engagement—issues that ANFASSC has consistently and constructively raised over time. These factors have limited the continuity and coordination required to fully realise a cohesive and credible supporters’ structure.

“Notwithstanding these challenges, ANFASSC acknowledges and commends the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its visible and results-driven interventions in support of Nigerian football in recent times. The Commission had facilitated a chartered flight to the supporters for the Super Eagles to Rwanda for their World Cup qualifier, supported timely visa processing for the South Africa qualifier, and provided unequivocal support for the World Cup qualifier playoff matches in Morocco, including assistance with visas, flight logistics, and supporters’ welfare—among several other critical interventions. These efforts reflect a commitment to professionalism, preparedness, and the overall wellbeing of the national teams.
“In line with this progressive outlook, ANFASSC aligns with the NSC’s position that unity among supporters does not require the dissolution or merger of existing organisations. Rather, unity can be achieved through coordinated stadium support, unified chants, and mutual respect during national team engagements, while preserving established structures. This approach reflects global best practices and promotes inclusivity within the supporters’ ecosystem.”
The ANFASSC, he further noted has consistently upheld this principle in its operations, including during the Unity Cup, where the club independently mobilised, coordinated, and supported the national team in an organised and responsible manner.
“As preparations continue for AFCON 2025, ANFASSC reassures Nigerians, football authorities, and the Super Eagles that our presence and support will remain steadfast. We will continue to engage constructively with relevant institutions and stakeholders to ensure Nigeria is positively represented, both on and off the pitch.
“Football remains a powerful unifying force for the nation, and ANFASSC remains committed to collaboration, credibility, and the collective advancement of Nigerian football,” he concluded.
