In a bid to alleviate the economic challenges being faced by residents different communities in Anambra State, the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) has flagged off a rice distribution event at Umeshi Townhall in Oraifite of the state.
The initiative, which sought to assist 6,000 individuals, aimed to provide essential sustenance and hope to families grappling with the current economic hardships.
Eight communities were carefully selected to benefit from the generous gesture, which include Irefi, Awor, Ifite, Umunakwa, Amokom, Obolo, Umuezopi, and Isingwu.
The target recipients were married women with families residing in Oraifite, widows, orphanages, rehabilitation homes, visually impaired individuals, members of both orthodox and pentecostal churches, as well as institutional leaders. The Obis from the four quarters of Oraifite were present at the event.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Chike Obidigbo Osisioma, and the Executive Director of SEOF, Chidimma Okoye, stressed the urgent need for collaborative efforts to support the communities in the face of economic challenges.
Okoye highlighted the significance of the simple act of sharing rice, saying: “In the simple act of sharing rice, we not only provide sustenance, but also sow the seeds of unity, compassion, and resilience within our community. The event embodies the spirit of collective kindness, turning grains of generosity into a harvest of hope for those in need.”
Adding a spiritual dimension to the event, the officiating ministers, including archbishops, reinforced the message of compassion and communal support. The natives of Irefi and Oraifite showed their solidarity by attending the event and lending their support.
Beneficiaries of the gesture expressed their gratitude, highlighting the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by economic hardships.
