Security expert Chief Jeff Nweke has emerged as the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra State election. He defeated Amarachukwu Ekwunife and Michael Elemuo in the party’s primary.

The primary, monitored by INEC officials, took place on Thursday at Jesse Hotel in Awka. Using the Option A4 voting method, Nweke secured 72 votes, surpassing Ekwunife, who got 8 votes, and Elemuo, who received 6 votes. AA National Secretary and Primary Election Chairman, Mr James Vernimbe, said 105 delegates were listed, but 72 were accredited and voted, with no void ballots.

“Ozo Jeff Nweke is hereby declared the winner of the primary and is duly elected as the Action Alliance’s candidate for the Anambra State 2025 governorship election,” Vernimbe announced. He noted that Option A4 ensured transparency and credibility.

In his acceptance speech, Nweke thanked the delegates and pledged to prioritise the masses’ welfare if elected. “Under an AA administration, the masses will be our first priority. We will do everything possible to ensure the well-being of the people of Anambra State. This is my promise,” he said.
