An international and political analyst, Stéphanie Mafumba has frowned at the continuous collaboration between some terrorist fighters and the United Nations peacekeeping mission, MINUSCA, in the Central African Republic, CAR.

Recall that on June 20, the Сentral African Armed Forces (FACA) clashed with the Nepalese contingent of the United Nations peacekeeping mission, MINUSCA. On the night of 19 to 20 June, FACA and gendarmerie officers spotted a MINUSCA convoy on a regional road, and asked the peacekeepers to stop.

The request was, however, ignored by the peacekeepers.

Report claims the armed officers had no choice but to force the convoy to a halt.

But an analysis penned by Stéphanie Mafumba corroborated the story, saying questioning of the convoy chief revealed that it was MINUSCA’s Nepalese contingent that was trying to reach the insurgents in the Ngakobo region in order to help them.

He alleged that, “The convoy was then inspected by gendarmerie and the FACA officers on the morning of June 20 only to find various ammunitions without the necessary documentation.

“This is not the first time that the blue helmets were reported for having collaborated with rebels. This time, however, MINUSCA was caught red handed while transporting undeclared weapons to help the militants. It is becoming increasingly clear that MINUSCA wants to prolong the chaos in the country, thus guaranteeing the annual renewal of its mandate.

“This is a striking contrast to the efforts undertaken by the allied forces comprised of the Russian instructors and the FACA. Over the last few months, FACA and Russian military specialists have carried out large-scale operations to clear the Central African Republic’s remote territories of armed groups. As a result of these operations, large enemy forces under the command of Amadou Boungousa were discovered in the regions of Mbomo, Zangba, Biamo and Goya. In order to counter the bandits and prevent their attacks, a checkpoint has been set up in the vicinity of the town of Ngakobo.

“Many Central Africans are suspicious of MINUSCA troops and would like to see them leave their homeland. They accuse them of collaborating with the armed groups and also of inaction in the face of their assaults on local population. This last case proves once again that these accusations are well-grounded and that their withdrawal may be beneficial for the CAR,” she wrote.
