Kinsmen of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison- Madueke have called for fairness in her prolonged trial.

The kinsmen, mostly traditional rulers from the Atissa Kingdom, where Mrs Alison- Madueke hails from, described her as a distinguished Princess and daughter of the Atissa Kingdom and expressed solidarity with her over the prolonged trial.

They recalled her performance in office, stating that Mrs. Alison-Madueke remains a blessing to Bayelsa and the Niger Delta region.

‘’Beyond her international accolades, we declare firmly that our daughter has been a singular and reliable factor in the development of the Atissa Kingdom, Bayelsa State, and the Niger Delta region. Her impact is not a matter of debate; it is a matter of record.

‘’She was the driving force behind the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act (Local Content). To the people of the Niger Delta, this was a revolutionary gift. It transformed our people from mere spectators of the oil wealth on our soil into active owners, service providers, and skilled professionals.

They therefore demanded fairness and closure of the trial, stressing that after a decade of domestic and international investigation, she has not been convicted of any crime.

According to them, justice that is delayed for over a decade, without a conclusive end, becomes an affront to the dignity of the individual and the community they represent.

‘’The People of the Atissa Kingdom stand by their daughter. We do not forget the leader who facilitated the growth of our youth and the strengthening of our traditional institutions.

‘’We demand a fair and orderly conclusion to this ten-year chapter. We ask for a resolution that respects the dignity of our royal house and the rights of a Nigerian citizen who has served her country at its highest levels.

‘’Chief (Mrs) Diezani Alison-Madueke remains a cherished member of our royal lineage and a vital pillar of the Atissa Kingdom. It is time for this protracted separation to end and for the narrative to return to the truth of her contributions to her state and her nation.’’
