In a bid to unite members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Alimosho, members of the Alimosho Progressives in PDP recently held meeting in the Ikotun area of Lagos state where they resolved to work together.
In a communique signed by members of PDP Progressives: Prince Fatai Ahmed(Saudi), Chief David Atolagbe, Arc Ademola Badejo (OBA), Rev Dr Abiodun Okoji, Hon Akeem Olanrewaju(Koro), Hon Stephen Olanrewaju(Steady), Prince Adesokan Ademola,Chief Balogun Adeshina Ajiroba, Comrade Arowosafe Latef, Adeshina Olaide and Bar Abimbola Ajala, the group said:
“We, the Alimosho PDP Progressives, have decided to preach peace and bring about reconciliation between distinguished Otunba Segun Adewale(Aeroland) and Alimosho LGA executives.
“We have noticed with dismay the array of suspension and counter suspension and agreed to the following motions:
That the suspension of distinguished Otunba Segun Adewale by Alimosho LGA executives for alleged offences emanating from the wards ought to have carried out preliminary trial for gross misconduct and if found guilty, the ward may recommend for his suspension or suspend him outrightly and then pass their recommendations or suspension letter from the ward and foward to the state exco.
“In any form of organised structure, there is no bulk passing, not to talk of a political structure power and duties are distributed according to hierarchical order. Therefore, the faction of the LGA exco led by Deaconess Esther Adeyemi(Vice chairman)found the chairman of the LGA, Alhaji Isiaka Ishola Shodiya guilty of misappropriation of election fund. The LGA chairman became solely responsible for abuse of office, except for release or delegation of power, i.e., If he had delegated his power by authorising the LGA Secretary or the LGA Woman leader to distribute the election fund to the various wards. Otherwise, the suspension of the LGA chairman, Alhaji Shodiya along with some principal officers like the LGA secretary and LGA woman leader make the whole exercise to uphold discipline within the exco “A tit for tat” affairs. Moreover, multiple suspensions of the LGA principal officers are unknown to the PDP constitution, and it also negates the principle of hierarchical power and responsibilities.
“Having highlighted the changes inherent in the aforementioned suspension and counter suspension, we the Alimosho PDP Progressives calls on both parties to sheath their sword and give peace a chance. We appeal to all interested parties to return the status quo for the unity and progress of the party.
“The Alimosho PDP postulates that what we need in our dear party now is serious mobilisation of people in our party and not suspension.
“At this juncture , the Alimosho PDP Progressives hereby call on state executive of our party, Southwest executive and the concerned leaders of our great party to intervene and fix lasting solutions to the crisis in the Alimosho PDP chapter of the party.
