Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has constructed over 390 kilometers of road across the state.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Tersoo Kula disclosed this while speaking to newsmen after a tour of some key government projects in Makurdi, the state capital.

Kula, who noted that the Governor has transformed the state into a construction site, said numerous developmental projects are ongoing across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Some of the projects inspected included the Benue Brewery Limited, producer of Zeva Premier Beer, Benue Fruit Company, and the 1.9km Ishaya Bakut dual carriageway, the famous Makurdi underpass, and reconstruction of the road from Makurdi to Abua on the Makurdi-Gboko road.

Kula highlighted the administration’s commitment to transforming Benue into a hub of growth and opportunity.

He said the Alia-led administration is making significant strides in infrastructure and economic development, with over 390 kilometers of road currently under construction and a wide array of projects spread across the state’s 23 local government areas.

He further said the state government has completed 16 township roads which it awarded in the first phase, with 25 more currently under construction in the state capital.

Kula explained that the efforts are part of a broader vision of the Alia-led administration to modernize Benue’s infrastructure and improve mobility across urban and rural areas.

“The administration’s reach extends far beyond the capital, there is the construction of a multi-billion naira Cancer Centre at the Benue State Teaching Hospital, completion of the Otobi Water Works in Zone C (Benue South Senatorial District), renovation and construction of schools across the state and even a university at Ihugh in Vandeikya.

“These projects aim to enhance access to healthcare, education, and public utilities for residents statewide.”

The Governor’s spokesman noted that the state has witnessed improvements in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He said “The revival of Benue’s industrial assets is underway with the Benue Brewery construction progressing steadily, and equipment currently being installed.

“Benue will no longer remain the same. The Governor is committed to the development of the state and the projects that you have seen, many of which are nearing completion, signals a new era of prosperity for the state.”

Earlier at the Brewery, the Technical Consultant, Mr. Dapo Loto confirmed the project’s momentum, and Plant Manager Adoje Emmanuel praised the Governor and the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) for their support.

Also at the Benfruit company, our correspondent observed that the Benue Fruit Company, previously leased to Transcorp and abandoned prematurely, is being revitalized under the current administration, through the BIPC as the Sono group working in collaboration with BIPC were at work.
